Young People and Nature
Are you aged 9-24 and love nature?
Would you like to learn more about nature-based solutions to combat climate change and help wildlife in your community?
Gwent Wildlife Trust, along with the five other Wildlife Trusts in Wales are working to empower and inspire young people from all backgrounds who want to take action for nature in their local area in a bid to tackle climate change.
How to get involved
Gwent Wildlife Trust has two youth groups (see map below). We meet on alternate Tuesdays from 18:00 to 20:00.
The meetings consist of indoor and outdoor nature-based activities, campaigns, educational talks and sustainable skill building.
During school holidays, sessions include all day courses, camping and field trips.

Where do we operate?
The Stand for Nature Wales youth groups work in two areas. The Wildlife Warriors in Newport and The Nature Nurturers in the Valleys. You are welcome to join us from across Gwent and beyond but these are the regions in which we are using nature-based solutions to combat climate change.

Our Stand for Nature Wales youth group members have created videos to highlight the impacts that spot-on flea treatment can have on the environment.
We can all make a difference
Together we can combat the effects of global warming by using nature-based solutions such as creating wildflower meadows, planting trees, establishing green roofs and rainwater gardens and making room for nature.
Funding
The project is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund. More information on Stand for Nature Wales projects taking place in other parts of Wales is available by visiting the Wildlife Trust Wales page here
